Summary: | The fruit fly (Bactrocera spp.) (Diptera: Tephritidae) is an important pest in horticultural commodities and more than 900 species have been identified. One of the hosts of fruit flies is mango. Information on the presence and diversity of fruit flies as well as variations in their morphological characters need to be known as basic data for control efforts. Morphometric analysis can be a support in the process of identifying and measuring the morphological characters of fruit flies. This study aims to determine differences in morphological characters based on morphometric analysis and the level of species diversity of fruit flies from three mango varieties (cengkir, harumanis and gedong gincu) in Jatigede, Sumedang Regency. This research was conducted in Kadu Village, Jatigede District, Sumedang Regency and the Insect Biological Testing Laboratory of SITH ITB. Samples of fruit fly imago as many as 100 each were taken randomly from three mango planting locations with different varieties. Sampling was carried out by installing a bottle trap with methyl eugenol attractant. The samples obtained were then identified. The identification results showed that four fruit fly species were obtained, namely B. carambolae, B. dorsalis, interspecific species (a cross between B. carambolae and B. dorsalis) and B. umbrosa. Furthermore, digitization is carried out for the morphometric measurement process. The results of morphometric analysis showed that there were statistically significant morphological characters in fruit fly species in different locations. In B. carambolae, the morphological characters that were significantly different were wing length, wingspan, wing area, leg length and body length. In B. dorsalis, the morphological characters that were significantly different were wing area, tibia length and body length. Meanwhile, in interspecific species, the morphological characters that were significantly different were only wing area and body length. The results of morphometric measurements also showed a range of body length of B. carambolae from 6.15-8.52 mm; B. dorsalis 6.31-7.84 mm; interspecific species 5.41-7.74 mm, then the wing length range of B. carambolae 4.42-6.79 mm; B. dorsalis 4.36-6.73 mm; interspecific species 4.99-6.97 mm. Then the level of diversity of fruit flies at three locations is low with a diversity index value of cengkir variety 1.00; harumanis variety 1,13; and the gedong gincu variety 1.19 and the high evenness level with the evenness index of the cengkir variety 0.86; harumanis variety 0.81; and gedong gincu variety 0.72. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that at the three mango planting locations there were differences in the size of the morphological characters of fruit flies and the level of diversity was low.
