Several sports, particularly badminton, have seen a drop in performance. Despite their good looks and achievements, Indonesian badminton athletes' achievements are declining statistically, regardless of the fact that badminton is 18,1% of the millennial generation's favorite sports, ranking third after football and running. The predicate as the most popular sport in Indonesia in 2020 is not directly proportional to the decline in Indonesian badminton athletes' achievements. The author formulates four elaborations on the problem which are divided into, coaching prospective athletes from an early age, the availability of fields and facilities, training patterns, and the application of sport science as additional efforts to improve the achievements of Indonesian athletes, especially Indonesian badminton athletes. According to the findings of the four elaborations, 1) the phenomenon of coaching at a young age is a gamble between getting talented young athletes, or losing young athletes due to the influence of too early specialization, 2) distance, because 3) adequate badminton training facilities and infrastructure are still concentrated in Java, 4) the training pattern of Indonesian badminton athletes is not intensive and unstructured when compared to China, and 5) sport science which has not been used as the main factor to support sports achievement. To respond to the current conditions from an architectural standpoint, it is deemed necessary to construct an ideal, sufficient, and uniquely built badminton training facility for early childhood development in the age range of 9-14 years. The facilities will be integrated with the implementation of sport science, advanced facilities and infrastructure, as well as training methods, in the process of producing elite Indonesian badminton athletes. To enhance user performance for sports, a reaction to the built environment that promotes physical and social activities is required. This badminton training center project aims to support young athlete development by providing facilities that serve as a means of coaching prospective athletes from an early age (aged 9-14 years) with specific achievements for athletes based on individual portions. It is hoped that it will sustain and increase youth participation in badminton as part of the process of improving Indonesian badminton achievements. The facility design project is planned to be built in Samarinda as part of the relocation of the New Nation’s capital city to East Kalimantan, which is two hours away by motorized vehicle. It aims to provide the same opportunity to athletes from outside the island of Java. There are centers in various regions, and this project will, of course, be on a national scale. Typology based on sports facilities with categories of education and training facilities. text |
