Description
Summary:Gorga Dalihan Na Tolu is one of cultural motifs of Batak, mostly carved on wooden exteriors as a part of traditional furniture decoration, which brings out Batak’s way of life of “three-legged stove” that symbolized principals of balanced living which stands within three main aspects; Hula-Hula, Dongan Sabatuha, and Boru. But as the heritage remains, the Gorga faced its own challenge to survive and passed for the next generations. The limited purpose of Gorga turns the motif to be challenging and unfamiliar for people who merely know about Dalihan Na Tolu, therefore the youths of Batak wouldn’t observe the motif in advance because they have a little less knowledge about the Gorga itself. Therefore, a purposive modification of Gorga Dalihan Na Tolu with certain surface textile techniques is one of the available respond for the current situation to develop various application of the acknowledged motif. Applying the modified motifs into evening t gala dresses define over the notion that Dalihan Na Tolu plays a massive, majestic and noble moral role in Bataknese’s way of life.
