MATHEMATICAL MODEL FOR DYNAMIC OF WEIGHT CHANGE TO CONSTRUCT DAILY DIET MENU
We are recommended to maintain our weight by controlling the intake of calories that enter our body every day. Weight loss occurs when the calories from food are less than calories burned. The rate of calories burning depends on the metabolism and composition of the human body. This study modeled th...

INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/64891 We are recommended to maintain our weight by controlling the intake of calories that enter our body every day. Weight loss occurs when the calories from food are less than calories burned. The rate of calories burning depends on the metabolism and composition of the human body. This study modeled the dynamics of body weight by regulating calories intake. The weight change model is built using the concept of an energy balance equation between energy intake and energy expenditure. The mathematical model expressed as a one-dimensional differential equation by considering the main physical parameters in the body. Modifications to the dynamics model were also made by adding the concepts of fat, non-fat, and metabolic adaptation. In addition to calorie intake, a variety of food types and individual nutritional needs must also be met every day. Therefore, a daily diet menu is required based on the total calorie intake by considering the variety of food and the main nutritional needs. Linear programming is applied to select the daily diet menu consisting of breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, and dinner. Calories output from the linear program for daily diet are used as input to the weight dynamics model to see the simulation results of weight loss in individuals who are on a diet based on the menu recommendation program. Through this study, it is also shown that daily fat intake had no relationship to the dynamics of an individual's body weight. text |
