Summary: | As time passed, art and culture have undergone various eras of change that have led to the emergence of diverse expressions. The type of art and culture found in a society reflects the society itself. Modern art is one of the art styles that is still evolving today. Modern artworks, as well as their thought processes and creations, have distinctive characteristics, including being experimental, innovative, new and upholding originality. Technology that continues to develop requires pioneers with a high level of creativity to produce more valuable innovations. However, it turns out that Indonesia has a relatively low level of creativity and innovation. When considering the development of art as well as the level of creativity and innovation in Indonesia, modern art museums are one approach to provide a forum for the public to ignite a critical and creative mindset. The age group of children is an ideal time to form a mindset since it is the finest moment for absorbing information. With children as the primary target, the designed museum must be constructed with child-friendly buildings, have an interactive environment, and can meet the physical needs of children. This museum is planned to be built in Kota Batu as one of East Java's tourism destinations with a diverse visitor base, with families and children as the main target. The museum is built to complement Batu City's educational tourism facilities, which does not yet have a modern art museum. It is expected that building a modern art museum with a participatory design approach can become a gateway for introducing modern art, particularly to children, so that it can produce a critical, creative, and innovative thinking future generation. |
