Summary: | Medan city is one of the cities that has variety of culinary types due to its diversity
of ethnic types. The diversity types of food in Medan can be seen from heavy food
to light snacks such as their native snacks. The existence of native snacks in modern
era is increasingly being ruled out seeing that many modern foods have been
influenced by foreign cultures that have entered in the areas. In addition, the shift
in people's lifestyles that tend to follow trends is also one of the factors causing
many young people to not recognize these types of native snacks, especially when
the existence of these types of snacks are difficult to find in public culinary places.
This could be a problematic issue because the existence of these native snacks
should be preserved from generation to generation. In this final project, the
exploration is carried out in order to introduce the potential texture characteristics
of these Medan city’s native snacks that have unique visuals to be introduced and
preserved as a culinary heritage of traditional culture in the form of ceramic
interior product using sgraffito techniques and relief techniques as the main
methods in making them. In terms of color, the product applies neutral colors that
give rise to ethnic concepts such as broken white and dark brown, while in terms of
shape, it adapts the shape of gorga ulu paung of the Batak tribe which is composed
in geometric shapes that match the product placement area at Saphire Blue Sky
Premier Lounge, Kualanamu Airport in Medan. |
