Description
Summary:The fact that one in two hundred people in Indonesia is blind is not a small number. This figure also continues to increase from year to year but unfortunately the equality felt by these people actually decreases. Even though there are many supporting facilities in public places, such as guiding blocks on sidewalks and braille codes on elevator buttons, it is still considered to be limited to reach the universal design standards. Apart in the public places, the presence of blind people in their respective homes also cannot be accommodated comfortably and still need help from other people. The question arises when the father and the mother in a family is blind. This increases the urgency of the need for housing and facilities for the blind that are not only reach the standard but also enjoyable. This needs realizes that architecture must also be enjoyed through other senses, starting from the senses of hearing, smell, touch, or even taste. The concept was re-integrated into a dwelling that a blind family could finally enjoy independently. However, this design issue starts from the very early design stage, which is collecting data from the client. Considering that the client is a blind person, a special method is needed in collecting data compared to other people in general who can easily imagine a visual simulation of a building. This collected data then becomes the main provision in the design with the initial goal that users can quickly adapt to their new residence. At the same time, the various adjustments that are made for the blind must also remain friendly to the residents and the surrounding environment
