However, to get an efficient operation, a photobioreactor system that can produce high productivity is needed. In this study, Spirulina platensis was cultivated in a hybrid photobioreactor system (FCB2021), which is a combination of a flat panel photobioreactor that can maximize light penetration and a bubble column to maximize mass transfer. Optimization of the FCB2021 photobioreactor system was carried out to obtain high biomass productivity and phycocyanin productivity. The FCB2021 photobioreactor system was operated for 10 days of cultivation and operated at irradiances of 100, 200, and 300 ?mol/m2.s and CO2 concentrations of 8%, 12%, and 15% which were injected for 3 hours/day. Analysis of dry biomass and phycocyanin content was carried out to calculate biomass productivity and phycocyanin productivity. Based on the productivity data, the optimization of the FCB2021 photobioreactor system was carried out using the Response Surface Method. The results showed that the highest biomass productivity was 0.173 ± 0.009 g/L/day and the highest phycocyanin productivity was 12.71 ± 0.63 mg/L//day were obtained under irradiance of 300 mol/m2.s and CO2 injection of 15%. . The productivity is relatively lower than some of the references due to the low S/V ratio at the flat panel and the light period. These results also indicate that there is no optimum point in the irradiance range of 100-300 ?mol/m2.s and CO2 of 8%-15% when injected for 3 hours/day. Furthermore, there is potential for the development of this hybrid photobioreactor system by setting other parameters such as pump circulation rate, light-dark frequency, and injection duration of CO2. text |
