Description
Summary:Urbanization to urban areas which causes a higher population density. This phenomenon also occurs in Bandung as one of the metropolitan cities with a fairly high flow of urbanization, resulting in uncontrolled population growth which creates a new problem, specifically poverty. Poverty which has an impact on the emergence of homeless cases in an urban area is due to the phenomenon of urbanization which is not accommodated with a balanced number of housing. Homelessness does not only occur in productive age, but also occurs in children and adolescents. Based on Badan Pusat Statistik Provinsi Jawa Barat, about 25% of the number of people who experience homelessness are under the age of 18. The data shows that many children are in poor condition physically, socially and psychologically. This condition needs to be handled more comprehensively so that these children can fulfill their needs and obtain their right to develop properly. Therefore, to respond this phenomenon, the contribution of architecture is to present a project that aims to create designs that can reduce cases of homeless people and prevent them from returning to a less conducive environment. This project consists of a combination of three typological functions, that is a shelter, a skills development center as an educational space, and a community center as a place to increase social interaction. The approach that will be applied in this project is a community-based living which accommodates social interaction and a restorative environment for rehabilitation by creating visual access to the natural environment. On the other hand, this project can act as an informal learning space that provides facilities to develop children's creativity, skills, and productivity to rebuild self-confidence and break the cycle of life. This project is also expected to eliminate the negative stigmas that have previously been built among the community by involving communities to participate in various activities and programs.
