Summary:Myocardial infarction was local necrosis of heart tissue due to reduced oxygen supply because of the occlusion of coronary arteries. One of the modifiable risk factors of myocardial infarction was dietary habits. Fruit could reduce the risk of developing obesity and CVDs. Several studies have shown that apples had a strong cardioprotective effect. This study aimed to know cardioprotective activity of Fuji Apple and Apel Malang on male rats of Wistar strain induced by isoproterenol. The cardioprotective activity test was carried out with nine test groups. (1) Negative control (Na-CMC 0,05%), (2) positive control (Na-CMC 0,05%), (3) comparison groups (Atenolol 9 mg/kgBB), (4) Fuji Apple juice at a dose of 5 ml/kgBB, (5) Fuji Apple juice at a dose of 10 ml/kgBB, (6) Fuji Apple juice at a dose of 15 ml/kgBB, (7) Apel Malang juice at a dose of 5 ml/kgBB, (8) Apel Malang juice at a dose of 10 ml/kgBB, (9) Apel Malang juice at a dose of 15 ml/kgBB. All testing group except negative control, was induced by isoproterenol. The results of testing cardioprotective activity showed that Fuji Apple juice and Apel Malang juice had the same capability to inhibit increasing cardiac biomarkers value (CK and CK-MB) with the highest inhibition was 79,56% and 73,08% for Fuji Apples, 69,18% and 43,04% for Apel Malang. The result of the cardiac histopathology examination showed that both Apples could prevent cardiac tissue damage. All juice Apple doses had the same cardioprotective activity.
