Description
Summary:Radial neuropathy is an injury that occurs to the radial nerve, and can be caused by trauma such as fractures, dislocations, pressure, infections such as tuberculosis, diabetes, and so on. One of the symptoms of radial neuropathy is wrist drop, which is a condition in which the patient is unable to raise their hand. The patient's hand hang in a flexion position if they are raised horizontally. Treatment for wrist drop depends on the extent of the nerve injury itself. One type of rehabilitation for wrist drop is by doing physiotherapy of Range Of Motion (ROM) to train the hand so that it can move as well as before. However, in Indonesia, the number of physiotherapists is still very small compared to the number of patients who need physiotherapy. Therefore, this study aims to produce an alternative solution for physiotherapy aid tool in the form of an orthosis that is driven using a pneumatic actuator. This tool is expected to be placed in physiotherapy clinics in Indonesia, to help overcome the small number of physiotherapists.
