INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/65006 Ethnomathematics is a science that study of mathematics and culture. In this study, we use one of the Indonesian cultures, there is batik. Each region in Indonesia has its own batik characteristics that represent the region and have its own philosophy. The motifs on batik are usually taken from the culture, flora or fauna that reflect an area. Translation, reflection, rotation, and glide reflection usually used to make pattern in batik nusantara. In this study, the author tries to see the classification of batik motifs based on wallpaper groups and the benefit in the textile industry. The batik motifs used in this study were 40 batik motifs representing 34 provinces in Indonesia and some of them came from areas known as batik producers. The selection of these batiks also looks at the relationship of the pattern to the wallpaper group and the completeness of the motifs contained in the fabric. The batik images in this study were sourced from several books and internet sites. The results showed that nine out of 40 types of batik are not classified the wallpaper group. Only seven wallpaper groups are used on batik. There are 16 patterns from eleven types of batik that are classified as wallpaper group p111, there are nine patterns from five types of batik that are classified as wallpaper group p1m1, there are four patterns from four types of batik that are classified as wallpaper group p1g1, there are ten patterns from six types of batik that are classified as wallpaper group c1m1, there are two patterns from two types of batik that are classified as wallpaper group p211, there are one pattern from one type of batik that are classified as wallpaper group p4gm, and there are six patterns from six types of batik that are classified as wallpaper group p4mm. The wallpaper group produc a wide variety of patterns that can be used on products from the textile industry. The wallpaper groups used in a design can consist of more than one wallpaper groups. A simple example of the application of this group is the motif on veil and scarf. The combination of wallpaper groups on the veil results a different design on a veil according to the folds made. In addition, its application can also be used on zero waste batik patterns. The zero waste concept used in this study is a geometric cutting technique, so that the application of wallpaper groups can be done out on certain parts of the fabric. With the zero waste batik pattern, it can maximize the use of cloth and minimize waste. text
