Disposal of waste containing cerium in the aquatic environment can cause a decrease in water quality and have an impact on health problems for living things. One method that can be used to overcome the because the process is simple, environmentally friendly and does not produce toxic by-products. Papaya seeds have the potential to be used as an adsorbent material that is easy to find and relatively inexpensive. In this study, papaya seeds were modified with magnetite to add magnetic properties to the papaya seed powder. The adsorbent that has been made is then characterized using FTIR and XRD. By using an external magnet, the adsorbent that has been used can be attracted by a magnet and separated from the solution. Adsorption of Ce(III) using modified papaya seeds Fe3O4 (BPM) reached the optimum conditions at pH 6 and a contact time of 5 hours. The Ce(III) adsorption model using BPM followed the pseudo second order adsorption kinetics model and the Langmuir adsorption isotherm model. The maximum adsorption capacity of Ce(III) using BPM obtained in this study was 25.93 mg g-1. text
