Hospital wastewater contains various substances used for medical, laboratory, and research purposes and includes waste from patients, including pharmaceutically active compounds (PhACs). Therefore, to design a WWTP system in hospitals, research on PhACs is needed. In addition, in-hospital waste is also commonly found bacteria and viruses that are harmful to humans. This research aim to identify the pollutants in hospital effluent and to determine a WWTP system capable of efficiently treating hospital effluent. The research was conducted at RSUD Majalengka, Majalengka City. Data on the characteristics of liquid waste were obtained from RSUD Majalengka, while data on non-domestic liquid waste treatment processes were obtained based on research conducted by researchers. The analyzed data proves that the WWTP system at the RSUD is efficient enough to treat domestic liquid waste, but the WWTP system at the RSUD Majalengka is still not able to process non-domestic liquid waste originating from activities in outpatient units, inpatient units, laboratories, emergency installations. emergency, pharmacy, and radiology. Therefore, in this study, a technology that was able to degrade PhACs was determined based on the research that had been done. The selected technology that will be designed to treat the liquid waste of Majalengka Hospital is an advanced ozone-based oxidation process. text |
