Summary: | During the COVID-19 pandemic, all office activities, lectures, schools, and others
have encountered obstacles where individuals are not permitted to gather so that
almost all works must done from their residences. One of the activities that must
have done from residences is lecture activities. Residences are generally not
designed to implement lecture activities, so there are lots of disturbances from the
surrounding environment that can affect the quality and performance of college
student learning. This research was conducted to identify the quality of the acoustic
conditions of the environment for online lecture activities. The steps of this research
are: identification of environmental aspects that affect the quality of online lectures,
identification of environmental aspect that the most affecting on the quality of
online lectures, and identification of correlation between the main environmental
aspects and objective parameters. The soundscape approach method is used to
evaluate the respondents' assessment of the acoustic environment in their
residences. The analysis shows that the aspects of residence that can affect the
quality of online lectures are aspects of focus and acoustic conditions, comfort and
visual conditions, thermal conditions, and and room conditions, with aspects of
focus and acoustic conditions as the most affecting aspect on the quality of online
lectures. Based on subjective parameter in the form of a focus and acoustic
conditions scale, the perception of college students who are living in a boarding
house is different from the perception of college students who are living at the house
regarding the thermal and space conditions of the recidences. Based on the
objective parameter in the form of sound pressure level, the A-weighted equivalent
sound pressure level in the boarding house is same as the A-weighted equivalent
sound pressure level at the house, which is in the interval of 57-76 dBA. The
correlation between subjective and objective parameters is inversely correlated to
the sound pressure levels that exceeded for mor that 10% and 50% of the exposure
time.
