INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/65167 The climate change and global warming issue has taken place in recent decades due to the heavy industry growth and thus resulting in pollution of air and releasing of large amount of co2 in the atmosphere. The cities are also victim of this phenomena, in which the urban areas are significantly warmer than the surrounding rural and it is know as urban heat island (UHI). To overcome this challenge many studies are conducted by researchers of various backgrounds and levels. The studies suggested many concepts such as climate sensitive urban design (CSUD), mitigation strategies and etc. in this study the case is as area that is located in Tangerang city near the international Soekarno Hatta airport, that is the hub of Indonesian aviation, and thus supports very large amount of activities and big contribution to the economy. To respond to the problem of discomfortable thermal condition in the urban area it is suggested to consider the microclimate aspect of the environment and predict the condition before developing the area. CUSD concept was applied and Envi met was deployed to simulate and model the microclimate condition of the site for two different scenarios. Buildings orientation harmonized with prevailed wind direction, ascending arrangement and void configuration was applied in scenario1, and east-west building elongation, and descending arrangement from north to south to decrease solar radiation on the facades and canyons in response solar path was applied in scenario 2 for. Void buildings, ascending to prevailed wind direction showed better performance for wind speed and relative humidity in majority of receptors in spaces near buildings. In the case of scenario 2 performance result was showing lower score for wind speed and relative humidity in majority of the receptors, however the air temperature score in both scenarios show similar performance with negligible difference and PMV score a bit higher for scenario 2. text
