| Summary: | Indonesia is an archipelagic country and has a coastline that is used for determining state and regional sea boundaries. However, over time, a problem arose, namely the change in the coastline used as a reference in determining sea boundaries. This phenomenon is called shoreline dynamics. For this reason, this study aims to identify natural and artificial processes in the coastal area that can affect the dynamics of the coastline in Bireuen Regency, Aceh. This research was compiled based on a literature study, namely conducting research on books, scientific literature and other written sources as the main object (Hadi, 1995). The type of research used is qualitative, namely research that produces information in the form of notes and descriptive data contained in the text under study (Mantra, 2008). The results of the analysis of this study are the cause of the dynamics of the coastline in the form of accretion that occurs in Bireuen Regency is a natural process, namely sedimentation. No man-made processes were found that caused significant shoreline dynamics.
