This region lacks observatories. In addition, Bosscha Observatory's sky quality is declining because of light pollution. Spatial analysis has been conducted through previous studies. This study identifies the suitable site using two types of parameters. Physical parameters include population, road, and electrical accessibility, light pollution, human activity, and elevation. Atmospherical parameters include precipitation, cloud fraction, aerosol optical depth, precipitable water vapor, and wind speed. Those parameters were reclassified and the values were added. Then, the result of added values was physical index and atmospherical index were integrated and became suitability index for astronomical observatories. The suitability index is divided into 10 longitude zone and 10 latitude zone. The suitability index was used to determine the best location and evaluated existing observatories. The result shows the best location for astronomical observatories are located in Aceh, North Kalimantan, East Nusa Tenggara, Central Sulawesi, and the central region of Papua. 18 recommended location was determined based on longitude and latitude zone. text
