REMINISCENCE OF TROWULAN: RESORT DESIGN AS A RECREATIONAL FACILITY IN TROWULAN, MOJOKERTO

Covering a discussion of Indonesian history, it is incomplete if it does not discuss the Majapahit Kingdom, which was centered in East Java, with the palace or capital city in an area called Trowulan. Now, Trowulan is a sub-district located in Mojokerto Regency, East Java. Almost all villages in Trowulan District have archaeological finds. So that the entire area of Trowulan is one large archaeological site area of nearly 100 sq km. This makes Trowulan District, Mojokerto Regency, believed to be the capital of the empire. Trowulan has a high potential as a historical tourism area, but due to the involvement of the government, tourism support facilities, as well as knowledge and public interest in historical relics that are still lacking, many sites in Trowulan seem to be neglected. On the other hand, it was found that the number of accommodations in the Trowulan area is relatively low, this became one of the factors that people do not pay attention to Trowulan as their tourist destination. One solution that can be given is the construction of a themed resort with the concept of the Majapahit Kingdom, which aims to create a resort as an inn and recreation room about the Majapahit Kingdom to become an icon of lodging as well as increase tourism in Trowulan District, Mojokerto Regency. In order for this resort to fulfill these goals, design concepts are applied that can implement the culture and values upheld during the Majapahit Kingdom era, and combine them with today's tourism interests as a whole. The development of this resort is expected to increase historical tourism in Trowulan, as well as as a first step in changing the community's stigma about learning about history itself. The resort design project is planned to be built on the south side of the Trowulan Site, precisely in Lebakjabung Village, Jatirejo District, Mojokerto Regency, a 20 minute-drive by motorized-vehicle from the Trowulan Museum which is the center point of tourism in the Trowulan Site. It aims to accommodate and increase the interest of tourists visiting Trowulan for rest and recreation.
