Description
Summary:COVID-19 is an acute infectious respiratory disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2) virus. The first case of COVID-19 infection was found in the city of Wuhan, Hubei Province, China. This virus spread quickly to various countries including Indonesia and was designated by WHO as a pandemic. Over time, the SARS-CoV-2 virus mutated so that several variants appeared which caused an increase in cases in several time periods. Each variant of the mutated virus has different characteristics, levels of transmission, severity and response to immunity. This study aims to determine the effect of the SARS-CoV-2 virus variant on the spread of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia. Understanding of the effect of the SARS-CoV-2 virus variant on the spread of COVID-19 in Indonesia is important to analyze effective government policies to suppress the spread of COVID-19
