DEVELOPMENT OF THE NGARGOYOSO TOURISM AREA IN KARANGANYAR REGENCY BASED ON THE PERSPECTIVE OF TOURISTS

Karanganyar Regency has tourism potential, especially in Ngargoyoso District which is famous as a tourist area. The location of the Ngargoyoso District, which is located at the foot of Mount Lawu, makes this tourist area the most tourist destination in Karanganyar Regency, which is as many as 26 destinations spread across all villages. Ngargoyoso District as a tourist area has not been able to contribute the most tourist visits in Karanganyar Regency, indicating tourist dissatisfaction in visiting. Therefore, a study was conducted on the development of the Ngargoyoso tourist area based on the perspective of tourists, such as regarding perceptions and preferences for attractions, amenities, and tourist accessibility; analysis of the district's internal accessibility level and the formulation of strategies as input to the Karanganyar Regency Government and management parties. Through literature studies, questionnaires, and observations, quantitative and qualitative descriptive analyzes were carried out to explain the demographic characteristics of tourists, the characteristics of tourist travel patterns, as well as the district's internal accessibility to tourism activities in the Ngargoyoso tourist area. Importance performance analysis (IPA) is used to determine development priorities for attractions, amenities, and tourist accessibility and formulate strategies for these development priorities. The main development priorities include climatic/weather conditions, toilets, and road conditions. The accessibility level of Karanganyar Regency according to travel time, perception of far and near, convenience, comfort, and security in general is quite good but requires improvement because the travel time spent by tourists is quite long, so that two main strategies are formulated based on the analysis that has been carried out and focuses on improving and repair.
