Tenun Kubang is one of the oldest woven fabrics from West Sumatra, located in Guguak District, Lima Puluh Kota. In the current development process, Tenun Kubang is still growing, and the quality continues to be improved so that it can develop, the people of West Sumatra are more familiar with Silungkang and Pandai Sikek Weaving as Minangkabau cultural heritage. Therefore, this research was conducted as a continuation of the tradition in West Sumatra to be more in line with the needs of the times to restore knowledge about the existence of Tenun Kubang, to explore local aesthetic potential and create innovations for clothing products. The development of Tenun Kubang is carried out simultaneously to improve the quality of Tenun Kubang as an effort to increase high selling value products so that weavers can be regenerated properly. This study uses a qualitative approach. The data collected is primary data with interviews, literature studies, field observations, and visual exploration of the Tenun Kubang patterns and exploration of beads embroidery as the chosen embellishment. The output of this research is ready to wear garments with standard sizes or ready to wear based on weaving results from the development and deepening of Tenun Kubang patterns using a touch of recalculation according to the target market. text |
