| Summary: | Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) is one of important components in urban
economics development. SMEs closely related to cluster phenomenon which is a group
of enterprises in a certain geographical which interconnected with specific sector that
complement each other. The evolution of industrial clusters has implications for its
life cycles. Each cluster has different condition caused by charact eristic differences
in its life cycles, divided into a number of phase. Each phase has characteristic,
demands, and challenges. The phase is formed by determinants of sustainability factor
that could be viewed from economic dimension, socio -culture dimension and
institutional dimension. Business sustainability in cluster can contribute to urban
economics development and public welfare. The objective of this research is to
identify determinants of sustainability factor of industry. Case -study approach to
Sentra Batik Trusmi, Kabupaten Cirebon was conducted to answer the objective of
this research. Data collection is conducted by interviews and literature study. Data
analysis is done by qualitative analysis method. The result showed Sentra Batik
Trusmi has been undergo fluctuation in its life cycle from emergence to decline II.
Despite decreasing, Sentra Batik Trusmi could sustain, because it is part of its life
cycles. Sentra Batik Trusmi could sustain as long as it pay attention to determinants
of sustainability factor. Those factor can be viewed fr om the economic dimension
consist of economic stability and business competition that can develop Sentra Batik
Trusmi and reach stable condition. It supported by socio-culture dimension with the
ability to innovate and well-maintained regeneration, also institutional dimension
through involvement of government and other institution. Sentra Batik Trusmi tend to
has sustainability cluster despite fluctuation in its life-cycles. |
