Description
Summary:The Hallway Space is a creative public space located in Kosambi, Bandung city. In each tenant of The Hallway Space, signage is spread which is used as a tool to contribute to the need for identity, change in multiculturalism, empowerment, and social recognition in creative spaces. This study aims to clarify the characteristics and typographic classification used in the creative space signage of The Hallway Space. The characteristic analysis used is Van Leeuwen's distinctive features and visual classification of Vox. From the discovery of these characteristics, typographic design characters in creative spaces are very diverse, but when grouped by tenant type there are several patterns with the same characteristics. Through this research, the researcher found that the typography used in each corridor provides insight into several aspects, especially those related to identity. First, typography in signage shows a very different and very diverse visual identity that creates a collective image. Second, several types of tenants use different fonts and visual styles to reflect and represent different cultural backgrounds. The presence of typography in The Hallway Space signage creates a language of inclusiveness and diversity that seems more welcoming to visitors. The visual identity created by this signage is consistent with the ability of creative spaces to make people in different environments inclusive, and tolerant.
