Description
Summary:This study examines the effect of using a binaural beat with a frequency of 2.00 Hz – 2.75 Hz (Delta Wave) on cognition in the form of menu selection by cafeteria visitors. This study is motivated by the phenomenon that occurs in Z Generation as internet natives who has started to shift their visual attention to the gadget screen. This is because excessive use of gadgets can divert attention to food choices and food trends on social media. As it’s effect, Z Generation has tendencies to consume junk food. In response to this, there is a need for studies related to the use of non- visual stimuli that can affect space users and support the function of space to be taken. One stimulus that has high potency in supporting the function of space is an audio stimulus. Audio stimulus is a stimulus that comes from sound waves that are captured by the ear and has a faster information transmission process in the human brain. The types of audio stimuli also vary and have their respective effectiveness, one type of beat that has high potency in psychology is binaural beat. However, there is limited application of binaural beat in the interior design.. This research will be conducted in a co-working space Sans.co and a group of students aged 18- 22 years as the respondents with a psychological study through menu selection after the respondent is given treatment in the form of an audio binaural beat which has a subliminal message of stop eating junk food. Respondents who took part in the experiment were asked to listen to the specified binaural beat audio and choose a food menu that had been designed. This qualitative research uses descriptive analysis method with primary and secondary data sources through questionnaires, interview, observation and literature review.
