CAPSULE HOTEL INTERIOR DESIGN WITH HEALTH PROTOCOL APPROACH TO PREVENT COVID-19 TRANSMISSION IN BATAM CITY

The development of the Indonesian hotel industry during the pandemic experienced a decrease in consumer interest in traveling, they are domestic travel and international travel. Declining interest in traveling also has an impact on interest in staying at hotels. These changes also change the trend in the hotel industry where hotel room reservations are dominated by short-term lodging. This phenomenon occurred in Batam, Riau Islands, where Batam has experienced a decrease in the length of stay in five-star hotel rooms since the pandemic slowed. The average hotel room occupant is a transit passenger or a person on a business trip. This has resulted in the emergence of budget hotels, one of which is a capsule hotel, a hotel that provides standards and does not need to pay more. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is necessary to pay attention to the cleanliness and hygiene of the hotel, therefore it is necessary to apply the standard Covid-19 prevention health protocol in the hotel.In the design of this capsule hotel, it is necessary to identify the characteristics and behavior of users for the hotel so that its facility needs can be met. It also refers to the interior aspect of the capsule hotel. In addition, it is also necessary to pay attention to the layout arrangement so that the comfort, safety of hotel guests, and hotel cleanliness are under the COVID-19 health protocol standards. Using the literature study method to obtain data, and data analysis so that the data obtained were analyzed, and conclusions were drawn.
