The rapid rate of population growth in Indonesia has not only caused limited land problems, but also increased consumption of various life-supporting products. The high consumption results in an abundance of waste generated by the community, and solid waste in the form of plastic packaging containers is one of the products that are most encountered due to economic growth that encourages the use of plastic with its various advantages as the main material in products. Excessive consumption coupled with nonoptimal waste processing causes the uncontrollable accumulation of plastic waste. Efforts have been made to overcome the problem by recycling it into plastic pellets, but the resulting product is of low quality and lacks in value. However, there is an opportunity to optimize the use of plastic waste through processing that can highlight the potential and increase the value of plastic waste. Through research and experimentation on the properties and characteristics of used HDPE plastic containers, we can identify opportunities for the right product development of plastic outdoor seating with flatpack and knockdown systems.
