Summary:This study aims to understand the employee communication practice, leadership style and effective communication channel in insurance technology start-up company, named PT. Millenial Bersatu. The author conducted interview with 10 employees in the insurance technology start-up company, they are all from various backgrounds to gain new rich insights related to research objectives, the result is then analyzed by applying narrative analysis technique. The result revealed out that PT. Millenial Bersatu applies direct and horizontal communication practice because rapid communication style is required to gain ability to plan and make a quicker execution. In the aspect of leadership, majority of respondents agreed that transformational leadership is the best leadership style for the company. Furthermore, an open decision-making method is good for start-up, with boundary made by CEOs because confidential matters are also only discussed among CEOs, this filtering is important so that company does not violate regulation from Indonesia Financial Authority. For motivating and retaining employees, both physical and emotional supporting working atmosphere is required. The internal structure of insurance technology start-up is now mostly horizontal, adjusting to the need of market and offering flexibility when it comes to change. When the respondents were asked about public relation model, two-way symmetrical communication model was chosen as matching horizontal market. The evolving culture in insurance technology start-up today is innovation culture. Finally, to solve the current issues, company is recommended to apply gamification strategy.
