Description
Summary:Oelbubuk is one of the areas on the island of Timor, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) where a wind farm will be built for the development of wind energy. A wind farm can affect the local meteorological conditions of an area. The effect is caused by the wakes generated by the wind turbine. However, the magnitude of the effect is still largely unknown due to the limited available observational data. In this study, a simulation of the WRF model will be carried out to identify the effects caused by wind farms using wind farm parameterization (WFP) and non-wind farm parameterization (NWFP) in the Oelbubuk area, East Nusa Tenggara. The data used are GFS, and wind speed observation data of St. El-Tari Kupang. In this study, it is assumed that the wind farm to be built will consist of 5×2 units with a distance between the turbines of 1 km so that the total wind turbines to be simulated are 10 wind turbines with the type of Gamesa G114/2.5MW. Identification of the effects caused by the construction of the wind farm is done by looking at the difference in values from the WFP and NWFP simulation results. Based on the simulation results in this study, wind farm parameterization (WFP) can identify wakes which are indicated by an increase in turbulence kinetic energy (TKE) in the wind farm location. The difference in values from the two simulation results shows that the construction of a wind farm can result in a decrease in wind speed values up to 1 m/s, a decrease in temperature values at a height of 2m up to 0,5oC, an increase specific humidity values up to 0,3 g kg-1and an increase in relative humidity (RH) values at a height of 2 m. The difference in value will be greater as the wakes produced by the wind farm increase, with the affected area following the direction of the wind that occurred at that time.
