EMPOWERMENT OF THE LEREP VILLAGE COMMUNITY THROUGH THE DESIGN OF VISITOR CENTER FACILITIES TO MAXIMIZE TOURISM POTENTIAL

Lerep Village is an autonomous village area located in Semarang Regency, Central Java Province, Indonesia. A village area with strong customs with a topography of mountainous slopes so that Lerep Village has a great opportunity as a Leading Tourism Village. Some of the cultures that characterize the people of Lerep Village are the Iriban tradition and activities that are based on the local philosophy of Guyub Rukun. However, the management is not optimal yet has resulted in not many people know the existence of Lerep Village as an alternative tourism option, lack of facilities that can be used for village community activities, and still few who understand the local wisdom of the village which can be applied in various aspects of life. Therefore, it is necessary to have a facility to inform the character of Lerep Village and to become a place for visitors and the community to do activities. The proposed solution is the design of the Lerep Tourism Village Visitor Center which aims to empower the people of Lerep Village. This research discusses the interior design of the Lerep Village Visitor Center. The formulation of the problem proposed is how to empower the Lerep Tourism Village and its application to the design of public facilities. This research method is descriptive qualitative by using data collection techniques in the form of literature studies, site surveys, and interviews. The data that has been collected is then analyzed as a reference for the design concept of the Lerep Tourism Village Visitor Center. The design proposed for the design of the Lerep Tourism Village Visitor Center relies on the theme of symbiosis which is abstracted by the local cosmology 'Guyub Rukun' which aims to highlight the Lerep Tourism Village and give an impression to users so that they can empower the community. The focus area designed for this facility is the village information center and agricultural study area for the community. By focusing on these areas, hopefully this facility can preserve culture and empower the people of Lerep Village.
