Summary: | Smart City concept has been introduced in big cities in Indonesia, including Bandung, by
establishing a program called “Bandung Juara”. One aspect that is taking attention to the
program is the economy which intends to create a cashless society. Thus, the researcher in this
study investigated factors influencing cashless readiness among Generation Z (now between
the age of 17 to 27) in Bandung City. To achieve it, this study utilized UTAUT2 and TRI 2.0
which were incorporated into a Cashless Society Readiness-Adoption model with the novelty
of including infrastructure and education into the model. An online questionnaire survey was
employed to collect 402 respondents from Generation Z in Bandung City. Structural Equation
Modeling (SEM) with Partial Least Square (PLS) revealed ease of use, innovativeness,
optimism, and education have significant effects on cashless readiness. Surprisingly, the rest of
the three constructs namely usefulness, lack of awareness, and infrastructure were found to
have no significant correlation on cashless readiness with all constructs observed unless lack
of awareness was found to have a positive impact against it. Lastly, the research finding expects
the government, digital payment developers, society, and other researchers can enhance the
cashless readiness among Generation Z in the city of Bandung with their respective
contributions.
