According to Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) (2007), Indonesia has a 3,062,300 ha of mangrove escosystem. But, currently decreased, one of which is the mangrove forest in Segara Anakan, Cilacap Regency. Mangrove forest in Segara Anakan experienced a decline and damage due to land conversion to ponds, plantations, industry and due to illegal logging by local residents (BPKSA Kabupaten Cilacap, 2009). This final project was made with the aim of looking at changes and decreases in the area of mangrove forests spatially and temporally in Segara Anakan, Cilacap Regency in 2015-2020. The methodology used is processing Landsat 8 image data in the case study area and then classifying mangrove forests and other land covers using supervised classification and composite band methods. To obtain the density of mangrove forests, the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) method is used. The results obtained from this study are a map of the distribution of mangrove forests which has decreased from year to year starting from 2015 at 6,294.841 ha to 2020 at 5,047.912 ha. Mangroves in Segara Anakan also experienced changes in the range of 19-30% with the largest change area occurring in 2015-2016 of 1920,015 or 29.808% and the smallest change area occurred in 2016-2017 amounted to 1215,890 ha or 19,709%. Changes in the Mangrove Forest in Segara Anakan occur due to changes to other land cover such as agriculture, built-up land, non-mangrove forest, open land and water bodies which are increasing every year. Population growth causes human activities to also develop around Segara Anakan so mangrove forest degradation will continue to occur. text
