Summary: | Baggage delays that occur due to the time lag between the occurrence of a baggage
handling error and the discovery of the error can cause losses for the airline and
the baggage owner. Therefore, a baggage location tracking system is needed that
is equipped with a notification in case of an error. This tracking system requires a
data acquisition subsystem in the form of a tracking device that can provide
information on the position of baggage relative to the stages of baggage movement
during the flight journey. The subsystem uses an RFID tag attached to each piece
of baggage to perform tracking and identification. These markers will be read by
reader devices placed at each stage of the baggage movement path. The device will
send the reading results to the Data Center Subsystem which will store and process
further tracking information. The Data Acquisition Subsystem uses the EPC Gen2
protocol to read RFID tags. Sending reading information consisting of tag ID,
reading location, and reading time uses the publish method available on MQTT
protocol. The results of the tests that have been carried out show that the
implemented subsystem can read the RFID marker manually according to the
baggage handler's orders or automatically using the timer interrupt feature. The
test results also show that readings can be sent via the internet with a WiFi
connection within the range of the implemented device. |
