Moreover, Indonesia is an archipelagic country which makes it very vulnerable to a tsunami as a result of the earthquakes caused by the activity of the plate movement. Therefore, information is needed in the form of heights and tsunami return periods that may occur in coastal areas so that they can be used as consideration in making tsunami mitigation efforts. This study aims to determine the height and characteristics of the tsunami return period in the Indonesian Territory. In this study, elevation data was extracted from the event-based calculation tsunami modeling data which would then be compared with the probabilistic calculation tsunami modeling data to determine the characteristics of the tsunami return period in the Indonesian Territory. The results of this study indicate that the tsunami heights generated by the two models have similar values, that in the southwest – south of Sumatra, south of Java, Bali, NTB, north of Sulawesi, and North Maluku, the tsunami heights are relatively large with a range of altitude values. event-based modeling tsunami is bigger than probabilistic. The return period for the tsunami in Indonesia is dominated by a return period of 100 years covering the entire territory of Indonesia, followed by return periods of 500 and 2500 years. However, the 2500 years return period only exists in Central and Eastern Indonesia. text |
