SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATIONS HIGH ENTROPY OXIDES (MG,CU,CO,NI,ZN)O
HEO (High entropy oxides) is a material that was only developed in 2015, so research and exploration continue to this day. However, so far there is only one study that discusses the mechanical properties (hardness) of HEO (Mg, Cu, Co, Ni, Zn) O. The hardness of HEO produced in this study reached 16...

However, so far there is only one study that discusses the mechanical properties (hardness) of HEO (Mg, Cu, Co, Ni, Zn) O. The hardness of HEO produced in this study reached 16 GPa. This means that the potential for HEO (Mg,Cu,Co,Ni,Zn)O is large enough to be developed in applications that require high mechanical properties. Synthesis of high entropy oxides (Mg,Cu,Co,Ni,Zn)O was carried out by solid-state sintering method at high temperature. The materials used are MgO, CuO, CoO, NiO, and ZnO powders which have technical specifications (low purity). XRD (X-ray diffraction) characterization will be carried out to see the characteristics of the emerging phases. In addition, a literature study method was carried out to discuss the characteristics of hardness, bulk density, and surface morphology resulting from the conventional sintering method with the FAST (Field Assisted Sintering Technology) method. From the results of the research, another phase appeared after sintering which came from impurities and the constituent oxide compounds. Then, from the results of the literature study, it was found that the FAST-sintering method was superior because it produced higher hardness and bulk density values and smaller grain sizes than conventional sintering methods. text |
