Summary:Children aged 7-9 years are inherently still high in egocentric attitudes, so that a sense of empathy for their peers is still considered lacking. This has an impact on the need for an understanding of character education regarding the importance of empathizing and being social in the hope that the children will care more about the people around them. One way to teach children to empathize is through fairy tales, like the Legend of Mount Tampomas. The purpose of this study is to teach character education based on the Legend of Mount Tampomas to school-age children 7-9 years old through a book app. Data collection techniques used are literature studies, interviews, and forum group discussion (FGD). Based on the results of the study, it is expected that children can understand the importance of character education and their own culture through the design of the interactive book app, Legend of Mount Tampomas. There are two features in this book app. The first feature is about interactive visual narration. This feature aims to facilitate children who cannot read and those who are just learning to read so that the children will more easily understand the storyline. The second feature is mini games that can increase immersiveness so that children stay motivated to continue reading this book app until it's finished. During the design process of the book app, the thing that is always considered is its suitability for the design target, namely children aged 7-9 years
