PENGARUH EMULSI KRISTAL CAIR EKSTRAK DAUN KELOR (MORINGA OLEIFERA L) TERHADAP PENINGKATAN HIDRASI KULIT MELALUI UJI IN VIVO MENGGUNAKAN ALAT CORNEOMETER CM 825

The content of ethanol in hand sanitizer can cause dry skin, a condition of lack of water in the stratum corneum, characterized by symptoms of redness, itching, and scaliness. Moringa leaves (Moringa oleifera L.) contain carotenoids, ascorbic acid, glucosinolates, and other bioactive compounds as...

Moringa leaves (Moringa oleifera L.) contain carotenoids, ascorbic acid, glucosinolates, and other bioactive compounds as antioxidants, play a role in against skin damage, and rejuvenating the skin. The liquid crystalline system (LC) can increase the drug’s diffusion rate through transdermal and the stability of the active substance in the product. This study aimed to find out the effect of LC emulsion of Moringa leaf extract on improving skin hydration through in vivo tests on 10 subjects using a CM 825 corneometer. Extraction was carried out using a modified maceration method. The extract is characterized by determining of the extract density, pH, total phenol, and antioxidant activity. Surfactants in the LC system include decyl glycosides (DG) and cetostearyl alcohol (CA). The LC emulsion was evaluated with a polarizing microscope, determining of antioxidant activity, viscosity behavior, and dispersion. An irritant test was carried out on three adult albino male rabbits, and in vivo test of 10 subjects was carried out through a CM 825 corneometer. pH extract was obtained 4.46 ± 0.01 and the density was 0.99 ± 0.02 grams / mL. IC50 extract was 46.43 ± 1.01 ?g/ml, and the phenol content was 92.31 ± 0.43 mg GAE/gram extract. LC emulsion of Moringa leaf extract is lamellar asymmetry with IC50 49.35 ± 0.83 ?g /ml. The viscosity of the LC emulsion decreased when the rate share was increased, and the LC emulsion's dispersing power was 7.22 ± 0.63 cm. No symptoms of irritation were found. There was a significant increase in hydration during the induction time by hand sanitizer (p<0.05) but did not increase significantly during the use of moringa leaf extract LC emulsion (p> 0.05) text
