Description
Summary:PT Perkebunan Nusantara IV (PTPN IV) is a company engaged in the processing of palm oil and tea. PTPN IV has several business units, one of which is the Berangir Business Unit which focuses on palm oil processing. The productivity of a Palm Oil Mill (PKS) is not only assessed from the amount of Crude Palm Oil (CPO) produced, but also from the efficiency of the production process and the quality of the CPO produced. Based on 2020 data, there is always an excess or shortage of Fresh Fruit Bunch (FFB) supply every month at PKS Berangir. In the first semester of 2021, the average difference between the actual FFB harvested and the FFB harvest target is around 1,240 tons/month, with an average CPO production target fulfillment percentage of 88.20%, and the production target being only achieved in May. The search for the root cause was carried out and it was found that the production planning had not been designed with a method that was in accordance with the conditions of PKS Berangir so that the amount of CPO produced did not match the needs. This study aims to determine the optimal amount of CPO production and FFB supply each month for the period of January – December 2021 and to formulate the right goal programming (GP) model in making the production planning. The solution search process is carried out using Preemptive Goal Programming and Weighted Goal Programming methods. Conditions related to the CPO production chain at the Berangir PKS were used as goal constraints in the GP model formed, including production targets based on the RKAP, estimated FFB supply from 3 FFB sources, FFB processing capacity, CPO storage capacity in storage tanks, total FFB processed, and the suitability of FFB processing with the CPO yield value. The best solution is then obtained by using the Weighted Goal Programming method with an average achievement of demand fulfillment of 169.57%.
