| Summary: | Dry skin is a skin condition caused by loss of water content from the stratum corneum, causing
inflammation of the skin. ?-glucan has anti-inflammatory activity and high water binding ability,
thereby increasing the water content of the stratum corneum. ?-glucan is delievered as cream
because its more popular and easy to use. The study aims to proves the activity of ?-glucan on
the skin and determine the most optimal formulation of ?-glucan cream. In this study,
optimization was carried out using 4 different cream formulas in the journal Q1-Q3 ranging from
2000-2022 with the search engines Google Scholar, PubMed, and Science Direct. Furthermore
the 4 formulas were compared to obtain optimum formula with the proposed criteria: pH in the
range 4-6; particle size below 10 ?m; had thixotropic flow; and stable during storage. The
proposed design formula of ?-glucan cream consists of 5% ?-glucan; 1-5% polyacrylamide; C13-
14 isoparaffin; and laureth-7; 3.5% glyceryl stearate; 0.5-10% PEG-100 stearate; 4% jojoba oil;
qs TEA; 3% glycerin and 0.5% imidurea.
