Now the Rumah Gadang is scarce in West Sumatra, so it is not easy to find residents who still use the Gadang house as a place to live. So that the traditions that are usually carried out in the Gadang house can be extinct because people have started to forget the existing traditions. People prefer a more modern form of residence because of the times. The philosophy is in the various wood carving motifs that adorn the front of the Gadang house are mainly decorated with pictures of plants and geometric shapes due to the influence of Islam in West Sumatra. Of the various kinds of carving motifs found in the Rumah Gadang, not many people know about the decorations found in the carvings of the Rumah Gadang, making its existence threatened with extinction. In an effort to preserve the various decorative motifs of the Rumah Gadang, the application of these motifs into fashion is made. Moreover, the use of overlay fillet embroidery techniques can describe the motif in detail. This technique is also a traditional technique that has been around for a long time in West Sumatra so that it can support the preservation of Minangkabau culture in addition to preserving the shape of the motifs found in the carvings of the Rumah Gadang as well as preserving the embroidery techniques found in West Sumatra.
