The number of confirmed cases has continued to increase and led to the issuance of many appeals and guidelines for public services to protect themselves and prevent transmission. It is important for community pharmacists as the most accessible health care providers to improve their knowledge, skills, and behaviors to provide good pharmaceutical services. This study was conducted to determine the knowledge and attitudes of community pharmacists to optimize the role of pharmacists in West Java during the COVID-19 pandemic era. This is a cross-sectional study using a questionnaire based on the KAP (Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice) method on 895 community pharmacists in West Java. Statistical analysis used was T-test, ANOVA test, and Pearson Correlation using Minitab version 19.1. The results showed that most community pharmacists have good knowledge about COVID-19 (85.0%) with 27.42 ± 1.86 average value but have a negative attitude towards COVID-19 (50.3%) with 16.73 ± 3.82 average value. A good knowledge with a negative attitude may cause transmission if it is not accompanied by real efforts of self protection and transmission prevention. A precautionary attitude still needs to be improved by community pharmacists in West Java in order to optimize their role as a community pharmacist. Based on the correlation analysis, there is no significant correlation (P value > 0.05) between knowledge and attitudes of community pharmacists in West Java towards COVID-19. text |
