PT. Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) Tbk. is one of the biggest banks in Indonesia focusing on small medium enterprise (SME) credit lending. As high tension of competition among state-owned as well as private banks, the BNI needs an appropriate operations strategy to beat that competition especially in the lending credits. Reconciliation between market needs and resources is becoming one of the most success factors to achieve the goal and is a main subject in formulating operations strategy.
At the present, the BNI gains only small market share in credit lending compares to other banks. By the end of June 2007, the BNI current lending position is only Rp. 78,447 Billion, or just 9.11percent, compared to Rp. 861,498 Billion of total lending in Indonesia. Therefore, an appropriate operations strategy is needed to support marketing process of the BNI credit lending products.
This Final Project is attempting to formulate that kind of strategy by using operations strategy matrix introduced by Slack and Lewis (2002). Simplification in the procedure and terms is one of most important strategy can be enhanced, while development in network and resources will also have a massive influence in increasing the BNIs market share on the credit lending for small medium enterprise. |
