the relationship between the role of the environment and healing concept as well as
an understanding of the role of Ayurvedic medicine culture on the Yoga space.
Market needs cause changes in the layout of space to become a business function
that has an impact on the movement, shift, and inhibition of health values. Bali is a
region which promotes health tourism with Yoga spiritual healing. This supports a
very rapid growth of Yoga center such as in Ubud regency and coastal areas such
as Sanur. In Bali, Yoga therapy has been influenced by local culture and modern
such as Ayurveda. The uniqueness of culture, environment, and ethnicity, as well
as unique Yoga interior design are the reasons for foreign tourist to visit Yoga
spiritual healing in Bali. However, this potential has not been properly addressed
by service providers. A good and proper interior design reference for Yoga therapy
is also not available, causing the founder or designer to not properly understand
the criteria of space.
This study is based on assumption. First, Yoga spatial configuration in Bali is
influenced by cultural aspect. Second, there is a relationship between Yoga spatial
configuration with user’s quality of life. This study qualitative approach with two
stages, namely descriptive analysis, spatial analysis. Descriptive analysis from
result of interviews with Yoga guru, Ayurvedic doctor, and founder which are
needed to provide understanding about the relationship of Ayurvedic culture on
human and interior design. Description analysis is used to analyze existing data.
Space syntax analysis is used to explain pattern of spatial configuration to its
building composition, such as circulation, indirect communication, and spatial
connection. The resulting visual graph analysis and justified graph are used on
each spatial to determine hierarchy, territory, connection, and accessibility.
The significance of this research to provide new understanding and knowledge
development of the relationship between spatial element of healing space and
Ayurveda in humans and the interior design of yoga. The result is Ayurvedic
approach affects the layout criteria in the organization of space. The meaning of
space has expanded its meaning into physical space and non-physical space. The
Yoga-Ayurveda Healing Space in Ubud and Sanur have similarities and differences
in spatial characteristics on elements of physical space and elements of non-
physical space. Traditional Balinese architecture influences the layout and concept
of space by way of the Tri Hita Karana spiritual corner which prioritizes nature as
the highest existence in the achievement of the Yoga-Ayurveda Healing Space
through the atmosphere of the space. Each research object finds the configuration
of space, namely accessibility, territory, visibility, and circulation. The YogaAyurveda Healing Space represents spiritual values, material values, and
behavioral values. This study provides recommendations for interior design criteria
of yoga with an Ayurvedic approach through the concept of healing on self-efficacy,
psychological, social, and functional.
