Summary: | Culture is a very inherent identity throughout the world, including Indonesia. According to
Kluckhohn, one of the elements in culture is art. Batik, temple reliefs, fine arts, and ethnicity
are arts that are very common in Indonesia. Indonesia has a diversity of cultures that vary in
every city or province and even nationally, one of which is batik. Batik is one of the world's
cultural heritage recognized by UNESCO. Batik is a form of container to reflect the identity
of related cities, one of which is Malang City. Malang City is one of the batik industrial cities
in East Java. The motifs are inspired by agricultural activities, the wealth of natural
resources that surround the city or historical buildings that are iconic in the box itself.
Malangan batik motifs vary, such as dele cecer, lotus singo, coffee flowers, mangor flowers,
and sawat flower pring. One of the classic motifs from Malang is the Kucecwara Batik motif.
This batik summarizes history or iconic buildings combined with isen-isen into a single unit.
Inside the batik, there are various decorations inspired by the history of the city of Malang or
the iconic building monuments in this city. The author views that Batik Malang can be
studied to find out what aesthetic and beauty aspects are taken to become a collection of
decorations in the batik.
