Abstract:

A colorimetric method had been applied for determination of malachite green in gold fish (Cyprinus carpio Linn.) at maximum absorbance wavelength of 618 nm. Leucomalachite green in fish tissue was oxidized to malachite green using 2,3-...

Leucomalachite green in fish tissue was oxidized to malachite green using 2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyano-1,4-benzoquinone. Malachite green residue in sample was extracted by acetonitrile and then continued by liquid-liquid extraction with dichloromethane. The extract solution was then dried by rotary evaporator and dissolved in acetonitrile. This method had a good linearity with coefficient of correlation of 0.9991, the recovery of 83.90-101.48 % with a limit of detection of 0.11 ppm and a limit of quantification of 0.32 ppm. Total malachite green residue in fish sample which was soaked in malachite green solution 2 ppm was 0.58 0.05 ppm, while in fish sample that was feed with fish food which contained of malachite green (with ratio 10 g malachite green : 1 kg fish food) was 2.64 0.09 ppm.
text
