Summary:Indonesia has various kinds of national assets, start from the wealth of natural products to the richness of various kinds of cultural arts, one of the example of this wealth is various types of traditional houses, although they are national assets, many traditional houses are neglected and still require preservation. both in terms of shape to the decoration contained in it, one of which is a traditional house from West Sumatra, Rumah Gadang. Rumah Gadang is a Minangkabau residence that is useful as a gathering place for all villagers, although it has a fairly important function, in fact there is no obligation to maintain the Rumah Gadang so that the elements in the Rumah Gadang such as the decorative carvings can be threatened. This is the basis for choosing the title of the research as a way of updating the application of carving ornaments in the Rumah Gadang. These decorative carvings will later be displayed in the form of interior products as media that can be seen by many people using clay batik and suji embroidery techniques, which are typical craft techniques from West Sumatra.
