Description
Summary:Mount Tangkoko-Dua Saudara is a Quaternary volcano located in North Sulawesi. The conceptual model of Mount Tangkoko-Dua Saudara has previously been described, but there is a geological study (volcanostratigraphy) that has not been carried out. The analysis of the volcanostratigraphy unit will provide an interpretation of the estimated location of the potential geothermal system. This research aims to determine the number and model the geothermal system in the Tangkoko-Dua Saudara area by conducting a geological and water geochemistry, while the purpose of this research is to determine the location of the geothermal system components (heat source, upflow zone, outflow zone), determine the number of geothermal systems, and describe the geothermal system (conceptual model). The method used in this research consist of volcanostratigraphy analysis, geological mapping, and geochemical analysis of water. The result of the volcanostratigraphy analysis is a volcanostratigraphy map that divides the volcanostratigraphy unit in the approximate location of the heat source, delineates the boundary of the geothermal system and estimates the number of geothermal systems. The results of the analysis will be supported by the results of the analysis of drainage patterns, slopes analysis, and land surface temperature anomalies. The results of geological mapping are geological maps and geological cross sections which are used to generate the boundary of rock unit maps and generate conceptual models. The results of the water geochemistry analysis are system clustering and cold spring anomalies. The results of all these analyzes are integrated and described in the form of a conceptual model. The result of this research shows that there are 3 geothermal systems in the research area, namely the Dua Saudara, Tangkoko, and Sarawet geothermal systems. The location of the geothermal system component in the form of a heat source is located below the surface around the summit of Mount Dua Saudara (Dua Saudara geothermal system) and around the summit of Mount Tangkoko (Tangkoko geothermal system). The Sarawet area in the Northwest of the study area is estimated as the outflow zone of the Sarawet Geothermal system.
