Summary: | The Seanjang War was a major war that took place on the island of Java in 1740-1743. This war made the Netherlands aware of the threat of Chinese peranakans and made the Dutch implement a policy that separated the 'indigenous' and Chinese people. Textiles have been a medium of storytelling, both written and visual, for a long time. Automated knitting, especially jacquard, makes storytelling easier visually because it allows the use of several colors at once and the formation of an image.
Wayang is a traditional storytelling medium of the archipelago, especially in Java. In order to elevate the story of the history of the Throughout War, the aesthetic stylization of wayang is used to describe the characters. By combining these elements, an automated knitting textile is produced that tells the history of the War throughout using the aesthetic of wayang.
