Hypertensive rat model was developed by administration of propylthiouracil orally (1.25 mg/kg/day), NaCl orally (3.75 g/kg/day) once daily for 14 days, and single dose of adrenaline intraperitoneally (1.2 myu g/kg). Propylthiouracil and adrenaline elevated heart rate significantly (2.690 lebih kurang 0.1958 Hz, 2.726 lebih kurang 0.2007 Hz; p lebih kecil 0.05) while NaCl elevated stroke volume significantly (0.610 lebih kurang 0.0941 x10 (pangkat tiga) mV; p lebih kecil 0.05). Atenolol decreased heart rate of propylthiouracil-induced rats (1.094 lebih kurang 0.228 Hz) and prevented the elevation of heart rate of adrenaline-induced rats. Furthermore captopril decreased stroke volume of NaClinduced rats significantly (0.296 lebih kurang 0.0378 x10 (pangkat tiga) mV; p lebih kecil 0.05). <br />
