Summary: | Most residents of the flats still carry the lifestyle of the landed house, such as
hoarding goods. This case can be detrimental to the community during disaster
evacuation. The evacuation process certainly does not always run smoothly. So
obstacles and clogs may prolong the evacuation time and pose a risk of death.
Therefore, it is necessary to study the risk of earthquake evacuation in vertical
housing regarding the occupant's behavioral aspects. The case study is in three
building blocks in Rusunawa Rancacili, Bandung. Weighting-based earthquake
risk analysis is carried out through a calculation approach. Also, the disaster
evacuation simulation approach requires a performance-based earthquake
evacuation risk analysis. The disaster risk variables include threat, vulnerability,
and capacity indexes. The threat is defined by weighting the ground acceleration
around the site location. Determining vulnerability is done by social, economic,
and physical vulnerability equation accumulations. Moreover, the capacity is
acquired from the government's initiative in disaster management towards the site
location and community contributions through a questionnaire with closed-ended
questions. There are two scenarios for the evacuation simulation process,
including with and free of obstacles scenarios. Evacuation simulations were
carried out by agent-based modeling (ABM) using Pathfinder software. Then an
interpretation is carried out to identify the factors that cause the level of disaster
risk through the simulation results. The results showed that the level of disaster risk in Rusunawa Rancacili was moderate. Based on the weighting-based results,
high social vulnerability and low capacity are the risk factors for earthquake
evacuation. Meanwhile, based on the performance analysis results, interior and
exterior obstacles and occupant characteristics are the risk factors for earthquake
evacuation |
